CanWeather - Weather & Radar for Canada

Wow, I love the weather. Well, let me rephrase that: I love extreme weather. As a kid my Dad and I watched enormous thunderheads grow and fill the prairie skies. We stood at the window awestruck as lightning danced from cloud to cloud, thunder rumbled the house and the rain and hail threatened our safety.

Back then, I couldn't quite understand why other people didn't love snow-days as much as I did. I mean, it meant no school, doors that stuck shut, and a fresh palette to construct an even-bigger snow fort with. They were rare, but snow-days became a childhood fantasy. I stared at the weather channel (you know, the one that burned itself into your 26" TV set) obsessively waiting for the next snowfall warning.

Fast-forward to 2010. I searched the App Store extensively for a weather app that allowed me to track the rain and snow storms across Canada but there just wasn't anything available that provided accurate Canadian content in an fun, easy-to-use format. So, what would any other engineer with a background in programming do? Create it, of course. I justified the selfish pursuit with thoughts like, "I'm sure I'm not the only kid who grew up fascinated by the weather … was I?" Turns out I wasn't. CanWeather was conceived six months later after a bout of late nights, hair pulling and empty wine glasses.

Now a consistent top-seller in the App Store, CanWeather is used by a wide variety of people anywhere from fanatics like myself to crane operators, pilots, radio announcers, snow-plough drivers and nature nuts.
